PTE stands for the Pearson Test of English, a proficiency test assessing a student’s level of English ability. Successful completion of the test is a requirement for acceptance into foreign institutions or colleges where English is the sole language of communication. Typically, countries such as Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK request a PTE scorecard.
PTE Test Format:
- The PTE test evaluates a candidate’s proficiency in four key areas: Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening. The test has two modules:
- PTE Academic: Designed for Student Visa & Immigration purposes.
- UK Government Tests: Includes PTE Academic UKVI (Study & Work) and PTE Home (Live – Citizenship).
Additional information related to PTE:
- It is an online exam lasting two hours, with results available within 5 working days.
- The exam is conducted every day (except Sunday), offering three available slots per day.
- PTE scores are valid for 2 years.
- Scores range from 10-90 Bands for each module and overall.
- There is no maximum limit on attempts.
- Score cards can be viewed, downloaded, or sent through a user ID and password only.
- The last score achieved is considered for admission, not necessarily the best score.

Writing
In this segment, a candidate’s proficiency is evaluated based on their capacity to appropriately address the task using an extensive range of vocabulary and grammar. It’s important to note that the writing tasks in the Academic module differ from those in the General module.

Reading
The Reading section evaluates the ability to read for the main idea, key ideas, details, skimming, understanding logical arguments, and recognizing writers’ opinions, attitudes, and purpose.
